Riva di Levante translates to 'steep bank where the sun rises.' Grapes are sourced from a 3 acre block on the eastern slope, where the elevation peaks at 2000 feet. The soil is a deep red loam and is the source behind the name "Cimarossa" (red hill top).
This is a wine of vibrancy, beginning with aromas of cherry and pomegranate, toasted marshmallow & brand new leather jacket, not to mention a hint of chocolate salt water taffy, reminiscent of childhood. The palate is well balanced and seductive, exhibiting flavors of briary fruit and caramel molasses. Tannins are firm and structured leading into a long and complex finish.
